How this site works

Editorial, Medical Review & Corrections Policies

What we publish, who checks it, how we handle being wrong, and what we stand to gain. Stated plainly, because a claim to be evidence-based is only worth as much as the process behind it.

1. Editorial Policy

Who we are

physiotherapistindia.com is the professional and academic platform of Dr Dharam Pandey. It publishes evidence-based resources in physiotherapy and rehabilitation for three audiences: practising physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals, physiotherapy students and faculty, and patients, families and caregivers.

This website is not a directory or register of physiotherapists in India, and it does not provide clinical services. It is an educational resource.

Our editorial standards

All clinical content published here is developed against recognised international standards:

DomainStandard applied
Classification of function and disabilityWorld Health Organization International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)
Strength of clinical recommendationsGRADE approach
Appraisal of trial qualityPEDro scale
Evidence sourcesCochrane Library, PEDro, PubMed/MEDLINE, and peer-reviewed primary literature

How content is produced

  1. Commissioning. Topics are selected on clinical relevance, evidence availability and audience need — not on search volume or commercial value.
  2. Authorship. Every clinical page carries a named author with stated qualifications. We do not publish anonymous clinical content.
  3. Review. Every page is reviewed before publication by someone who is not its author. Clinical guides, outcome measures, modalities and clinical reasoning pages name that reviewer individually. Curriculum and study resources are reviewed by the Physiotherapist India review team and are labelled team reviewed rather than naming one person. Every page states which of the two applies to it. Reviewers are senior clinicians of the Physiotherapist India Team — see Who reviews our content below, including what that relationship does and does not mean.
  4. Citation. Clinical claims are referenced to primary literature, with working DOI or PubMed links.
  5. Dating. Every clinical page shows the date it was last reviewed and the date its next review is due.
  6. Revision. Clinical content is reviewed at least every 24 months, or sooner if the evidence changes. Content past its review date is flagged as such.

Use of artificial intelligence

AI tools may be used to assist with drafting, structuring, editing and literature searching.

AI is never the final clinical authority. Every clinical statement, recommendation and citation published on this site is verified against primary sources by a named human clinician before publication. No page is published on the basis of AI-generated content alone.

What we do not do

  • We do not accept paid placements, sponsored posts or paid links in clinical content.
  • We do not publish content written by commercial third parties under a clinician's name.
  • We do not make treatment claims that the cited evidence does not support.
  • We do not provide individual clinical advice through this website.

2. Medical Review Policy

Why we review

Rehabilitation content that is inaccurate, out of date, or overstated can cause harm — by delaying appropriate care, by encouraging unsafe self-management, or by creating unrealistic expectations of recovery. Clinical review by a second qualified clinician is how we guard against that.

What gets reviewed

All content describing:

  • clinical conditions, their presentation or prognosis
  • assessment methods, tests or outcome measures
  • treatment techniques, protocols or interventions
  • exercise prescription of any kind
  • rehabilitation technology and its clinical application
  • when to seek urgent or emergency care

Non-clinical content — biography, research listings, media coverage, speaking engagements — is fact-checked but not clinically reviewed.

Who reviews

Reviewers are qualified physiotherapists or medical practitioners with demonstrable expertise in the relevant area. A reviewer must not be the author of the page they review.

Who reviews our content

Clinical review is carried out by senior physiotherapists of the Physiotherapist India Team, assigned by specialty. They practise across six hospital and rehabilitation departments, and their affiliation is named on every page they review:

Clinical content is authored by 30 named clinicians across the team. Dr Dharam Pandey is Chief Editor and the named author of 10 of the 76 pages that carry a byline; where he is the author, the review is carried out by an independent external peer reviewer, because he does not review his own work.

What this review is, and what it is not

It is in-house clinical review. Reviewers are practising senior clinicians with relevant postgraduate qualifications. Twenty-six of the thirty contributors practise outside APARC Health and Motion — at HCMCT Manipal, Manipal Hospitals, ShardaCare Healthcity and Shanti Mukand Hospital — so most review is carried out by clinicians with no connection to Dr Pandey's clinical establishment. It is still in-house in the sense that reviewers are members of the same editorial team. Review is a second qualified clinician checking a colleague's work before publication.

It is not independent third-party review. Our reviewers are not external to the organisation, and they are not free of the conflict of interest described in our Conflict of Interest Disclosure. We state this plainly rather than describe our process as something it is not.

Where a page carries a “Reviewed by” line, that named clinician has read the page and checked it against the criteria below. Pages that have not been reviewed carry no review line — an absent byline means review is outstanding, not that it was skipped silently.

What review covers

  1. Accuracy — is every clinical statement correct and supported by the cited evidence?
  2. Currency — does it reflect the current evidence base?
  3. Completeness — are material contraindications, precautions and red flags stated?
  4. Safety — could a reader come to harm by acting on this page?
  5. Clarity — is it comprehensible to the audience it addresses?
  6. Scope — does it stay within what a website can responsibly offer, and direct readers to clinical assessment where needed?

Medical disclaimer

Medical disclaimer

The content on this website is for education and information only. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for assessment, diagnosis or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional.

Rehabilitation is individual. Information that is appropriate for one person may be inappropriate or unsafe for another. Always consult a qualified physiotherapist or physician before beginning, changing or stopping any treatment or exercise programme.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, seek immediate medical attention. Do not rely on this website.

Red flags requiring urgent assessment include, but are not limited to: sudden severe weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, unexplained weight loss with pain, severe unremitting night pain, fever with spinal pain, and any sudden change in neurological function.

3. Corrections Policy

Our commitment

We will get things wrong. When we do, we will correct them openly rather than quietly.

How to report an error

Report factual, clinical or citation errors to info@physiotherapistindia.com. Please include the page URL, the specific statement at issue, and — where possible — a supporting reference.

We aim to acknowledge every report within 5 working days.

How we handle corrections

SeverityDefinitionAction
CriticalCould lead to patient harmPage unpublished immediately pending review; corrected and republished with a visible correction notice
SignificantMaterially changes clinical meaningCorrected within 10 working days with a visible, dated correction notice
MinorTypographical or formatting; no change to meaningCorrected without a notice

A correction notice states what was incorrect, what it now says, and the date of correction. We do not delete a corrected page and republish it silently.

Retraction

Where content is found to be fundamentally unsound and cannot be corrected, it will be retracted. The URL will carry a retraction notice explaining why, rather than returning an error — so anyone who cited it can see what happened.

4. Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Statement

Dr Dharam Pandey is the founder and Chairman & Managing Director of APARC Health & Motion (APARC Healthcare Private Limited), a rehabilitation network providing physiotherapy and neurorehabilitation services.

Physiotherapist India does not refer readers to APARC, or to any other named provider. That was changed on 16 August 2026: the referral blocks and the provider link in the site footer were removed, and readers seeking care are now directed to consult a qualified physiotherapist of their own choosing. The commercial interest is disclosed here and in Dr Pandey's profile. If a referral to any provider is ever reinstated, this disclosure returns to every page that carries one.

Dr Pandey also holds a clinical and academic appointment as Director and Head of Department, Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences, at Manipal Hospitals, Dwarka, New Delhi. This website is a personal professional platform. It is not published by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Manipal Hospitals, and nothing here should be read as representing that institution.

How we manage this conflict

  1. Clinical content is reviewed by a second qualified clinician who is not its author. Most reviewers practise outside APARC Health and Motion — this is a real limitation of our process and we state it rather than obscure it. We are working toward review by clinicians outside the organisation for our highest-risk clinical content.
  2. Clinical recommendations are made on the evidence, not on what services any provider offers.
  3. No page carries a referral block for any clinical provider.
  4. The Physiotherapist India Team does not publish patient testimonials, star ratings or promotional claims for any provider.
  5. No superlative claims (“best”, “leading”, “number one”) are made about any provider, including APARC.
